The NBA has selected PrizePicks to be an official daily fantasy sports partner in an effort to enhance fan interaction via digital content.
Under the deal, PrizePicks will incorporate NBA intellectual property across its platforms, including its app and website. This includes official league, team, and event branding in approved marketing and product features.
PrizePicks CEO Mike Ybarra said: “Our focus has always been on delivering fun and responsible experiences, and working with the NBA allows us to bring that commitment to fans through innovative integrations that enhance how they engage with the game.”
The partnership allows broader use of league assets within both paid and free-to-play fantasy formats.
The agreement was arranged with support from KLUTCH Sports Group’s consulting and insights divisions. It also includes coordinated promotional campaigns across NBA-controlled digital and media channels.
These campaigns are expected to align with league events and seasonal milestones.
Additionally, the National Basketball Players Association has granted PrizePicks permission to use the likenesses of players in its promotions.
The operator now has access to leverage more familiar faces for its services. Adding players’ likenesses is expected to enhance user interaction within their fantasy platform.
An estimated more than 50 million individuals participate in fantasy sports in the US, accounting for around one-fifth of all adults in the nation.
Market size figures reinforce this trend, with US revenue estimated to be in excess of $13bn in 2025 and projections pointing toward substantial expansion over the next decade. The industry’s overall global value is said to be as much as $36bn.
Continued revenue growth, despite relatively flat user numbers, highlights a key shift: operators are generating more value per user through entry fees, subscriptions, and integrated betting-style products.
Sports betting helps fuel fantasy sports success
Daily fantasy sports games became a cornerstone of the transition to such trends. Products in the category feature shorter game cycles and faster results, targeting mobile-savvy players.
Younger participants in particular demonstrate a distinct preference for daily fantasy sports games.
The connection between sports betting and fantasy sports has further ensured the continued involvement of fans. Overall participation in both has gone up, despite efforts in some states to ban fantasy sports.
The partnership between the NBA and PrizePicks reflects a pragmatic response to these market conditions. Rather than relying on new user growth, companies are focusing on maximising engagement within an existing base.
The integration of official league branding aims to deepen that connection, as the fantasy sports sector continues to shift away from pure user acquisition and toward monetisation, product innovation, and sustained user interaction.
