Mindway AI launches Gamalyze Sports to assess risk tolerance

Mindway AI has repurposed its Gamalyze Casino player protection tool for sports bettors and betting operators.

Gamalyze Sports has been launched to coincide with the World Cup, and DraftKings is one major operator that has already begun deploying it.

Lori Kalani, chief responsible gaming officer for DraftKings, called the tool a “fun and engaging way for those who play to get personalised feedback on their risk tolerance and decision-making strategy.”

What is Gamalyze?

Gamalyze is a virtual sports environment that can be added on to sports betting platforms.

While the newly launched tool takes the form of a football game, the original Gamalyze Casino was formulated like a card game.

Using similarly immersive visual and audio elements, the tools work in essentially the same way; new customers are invited to play a game, the mechanics of which assess how they make choices and manage risk.

The proposition is that this gamified assessment creates far less friction than traditional assessment tools.

In its announcement, Mindway AI said the improvement on completion rate compared to typical screening questionnaires is “dramatic.”

The company shared some operational statistics with NEXT.io from its pre-existing flagship Gamalyze Casino tool to justify this claim.

One such statistic demonstrated that from a sample size of more than 100,000 games, approximately 80% of games that were started went on to be completed.

When a game is completed, a tailored user report and preventative action plan is generated, and another internal finding showed that 2-3% of the reports generated were then actually downloaded by the user.

Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO of Mindway AI, said: “With Gamalyze Casino, we proved that gamified neuroscience could revolutionise how we understand player risk. Now, with Gamalyze Sports, we are meeting sports bettors on their own turf.”

The science

Mindway AI points to 10 years of neuro-imaging and behavioural research at Aarhus University in Denmark as the scientific basis for Gamalyze Sports.

The choices a player makes in the game help to profile the player’s decision-making strategy in order to map their sensitivity to rewards versus losses.

For operators, who have full visibility of the results via the Gamalyze dashboard, this should in theory help them identify at-risk players before they start making heavy losses.
