ITV Win shuts after four months as launch partner goes out of business

ITV Win – the UK broadcaster’s branded real-money slots and bingo site – is to shut down just months after launching.

Reporting by Jake Evans and Zak Thomas-Akoo.

The closure comes after UK-licensed operational partner Richmond Atlantic ran out of money and failed to secure a buyer, NEXT.io can reveal.

Gibraltar-based Richmond ran into financial difficulties after struggling to attract external investment following the official launch of ITV Win in January, NEXT.io has learned.

Richmond will now be wound down with up to 40 people being made redundant. The affected staff members were informed today (28 April).

In a statement provided to NEXT.io, Richmond Atlantic said the winding down of ITV Win was primarily due to “unsustainable” tax rises in the UK market.

Richmond originally entered a pitching process for the ITV Win partnership in February 2025. It won the contract in July 2025, but the collaboration began just one day before chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed wide-ranging tax hikes on the UK industry.

The increased rates ushered in a near doubling of Remote Gaming Duty, which includes online slots, from 21% to 40% from 1 April 2026.

“Sadly with the tax rise that was announced in November and became effective this month, despite a number of mitigations that we put in place for early trading, it has become clear that the business is not able to continue in the new tax environment,” said a Richmond spokesperson.

“We have explored all options, including the sale of Richmond to another UK-facing operator, but this has not come to fruition and therefore we have made the decision to wind down the business.”

BVGroup (BetVictor) was one UK-licensed operator to have considered taking over ITV Win via a deal for Richmond Atlantic, NEXT.io understands.

BVGroup has a track record of B2C media partnerships in the UK, through its Heart Bingo and talkSPORT Bet brands. However, a deal could not be reached.

Richmond’s shuttering will leave several of its supplier partners with unpaid invoices.

Gaming Innovation Group and Pragmatic Play were among the established iGaming companies invested in the initial launch of ITV Win.

A notice on the ITV Win website states it will close at 12pm UK time on Tuesday 5 May.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Sadly, we understand that Richmond Atlantic, the operator of the ITV Win Bingo and Spins website is unable to continue trading and so the the business and the site is being wound down.

“All customers have been informed of the closure and asked to withdraw their money from their accounts.

“Anyone who is unable to do so within the allocated period will then be contacted manually to withdraw their funds, in line with UKGC regulations.”
