Exclusive: Pragmatic Play doubles down on slots and live casino following strategic review

iGaming supplier giant Pragmatic Play will shutter its sportsbook and bingo offerings in a strategic pivot towards its core products.

NEXT.io understands the decision – which also applies to its virtual sports category – follows an internal strategic review and will see the company gradually phase out the B2B products over the coming months.

The move will enable Pragmatic Play to further accelerate investment in its flagship slots and live casino verticals, which have historically been the business’ core growth engine.

It follows the Gibraltar-based online gambling provider launching its bingo and sportsbook offerings in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

When contacted, a Pragmatic spokesperson said: “Following a strategic review, we have made the decision to focus on our core market-leading verticals – in particular, slots, live casino, crash and RNG. These areas continue to demonstrate strong performance and represent the company’s primary long-term strategic focus.

“As a result, Pragmatic Play will no longer offer Bingo and Sportsbook products, following a transition period during which we will support our partners as they migrate to alternative platforms. We are working closely with partners to support this transition.”

Sources told NEXT.io that while both products had established a presence with partners, the move came down to an internal decision to prioritise areas of the business where it is market leading, as opposed to scaling its non-core sports and bingo verticals.

The move reiterates Pragmatic’s previously stated desire to expand its live offering, with chief revenue officer Mark Maislish telling iGaming Express at ICE the company planned to open two new studios amid a wider expansion across key regulated markets.

This followed the launch of another live studio in Bogotá, Colombia in October 2025.

NEXT.io also understands Pragmatic intends to continue investing heavily in various areas including product innovation, studio expansion, localisation and regulated market growth within its core verticals.

Live casino remains a strategic growth driver for the business, particularly across regulated markets in Latin America and other jurisdictions.
