EveryMatrix today (2 December) announced the launch of Bonus Guardian, an AI-powered bonus abuse tool for iGaming operators.
The online gambling supplier said the new feature was developed as part of its BonusEngine and EngageSuite stack and should allow operators to maximise ROI on marketing spend by detecting fraudulent player behaviour before it impacts margins.
The move marks the company’s entrance into the bonus abuse mitigation business, in which Greco has historically been the most prominent provider in the space.
Stian Enger, EveryMatrix head of casino, said: “Everyone in iGaming knows about the battle between fraudsters and anti-fraud prevention tools. Each side wants to get ahead of the other, but with Bonus Guardian, we strongly believe we have a definite edge.
“Bonus Guardian is not just another fraud filter. It is a living shield that adapts to everything that is thrown at it thanks to the power of AI.”
Bonus abuse is the practice of players – who are increasingly informed and organised – taking systematic advantages of operator incentives for financial profit.
While companies characterise this behaviour as fraudulent, the players themselves may argue they are simply taking advantage of the offers presented to them.
EveryMatrix highlights AI-powered tool
The new solution, EveryMatrix said, uses AI and machine learning to continuously analyse player activity, adapt to new abuse tactics and apply role-based responses such as bonus exclusion and withdrawal holds.
This, it added, ensures legitimate players continue to enjoy a seamless experience without restrictions and limitations, while those taking advantage are stopped.
The company highlighted industry data which said bonus abuse is responsible for more than 63% of all detected fraud.
Meanwhile, those taking advantage are increasingly using AI, automation, and synthetic identities to exploit promotional offers, while traditional, rule-based systems have struggled to keep pace, EveryMatrix argued.
Bonus abuse has become an increasingly important issue for some operators, with Entain in August launching legal proceedings against the UK’s largest matched betting group.
